The Tale of Peter Rabbit was first written in 1893 as a letter to a young child, the store was published by Frederick Warne in 1902, and 22 more little books followed introducing a host of unforgettable characters such as Benjamin Bunny, Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddle-duck, Mr. Jeremy Fisher, and many others, all drawn from real animals. Her stories continue to be shared by successive generations of parents and children all around the world. |
